Miso is a traditional Japanese seasoning produced by fermenting soybeans with koji (a type of mold), salt, and sometimes other grains like rice or barley.
It comes in the form of a thick paste.
It's known for its rich, savory flavor, often described as "umami."
"Honi" translates to "kiss."
However, it's not just a simple kiss. Traditionally, the "honi" involves the touching of foreheads and noses, and the sharing of breath.
This act symbolizes the exchange of "ha" (breath of life) and "mana" (spiritual power). It's a gesture of respect and affection.
It can also mean to smell, or sniff.
